President Joseph Biden was inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States. Even before his inauguration, President Biden promised sweeping changes to current immigration policies, including bringing back DACA and lifting the travel ban. Negotiations with Congress are still underway, but a quick preview was temporarily available here. Proposed changes include:
Path to status and citizenship for undocumented individuals;
Getting rid of the 3/10 year overstay bars;
Reducing citizenship eligibility from 5 to 3 years;
Bringing back enforcement priorities.
If the above changes are included as part of a comprehensive immigration reform bill, it will bring hope to not hundreds, not thousands, but millions of people.
